The CPC credential recognizes expertise in physician-based or pro-fee coding, which encompasses the proper
use of medical codes as they apply to the physician practice and provider reimbursement.
• Proficiency in assigning accurate medical codes for diagnoses, procedures and services performed in the outpatient setting
(emergency department visits, outpatient clinic visits, same day surgeries, diagnostic testing (radiology and laboratory), and outpa
tient therapies (physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and chemotherapy)
• Proficiency across a wide range of services, including evaluation and management, anesthesia, surgical services, radiology, patholo
gy, and medicine
• Knowledge of coding rules and regulations along with proficiency on issues regarding medical coding, compliance, and reimburse
ment under outpatient grouping systems. COC’s can better handle issues such as medical necessity, claims denials, bundling
issues, and charge capture
• Ability to integrate coding and reimbursement rule changes in a timely manner to include updating the Charge Description Master
(CDM), fee updates, and the Field Locators (FL) on the UB04
• Correctly completing a CMS 1500 for ASC services and UB04 for outpatient services, including the appropriate application of
modifiers
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology commensurate with ability to correctly code provider services and
diagnoses
• A working knowledge in the assignment of ICD-10-CM codes from Volumes 1 & 2
The Certified Professional Biller (CPB) credential prepares medical billers with skills to maintain all aspects of the
revenue cycle. Without expertise in medical billing and payer requirements, reimbursement may difficult. Medical
Billers have proven knowledge of how to submit claims in accordance with government regulations and private
payer policies, follow-up on claim statuses, resolution of claim denials, appeals submission, posting of payments
and adjustments, and collections management.
The medical biller processes and follows up on claims sent to commercial or federal payers for reimbursement
of services provided by the healthcare organization. A biller regularly communicates with physicians and other
healthcare professionals to clarify diagnoses or to obtain additional information.
• Application of payer policy, Local Coverage Determinations (LCD), and National Coverage
Determinations (NCD) for successful claim submissions
• Knowledge of CPT®, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II coding guidelines
• Successful navigation of the varying rules and regulations applying to the healthcare industry, including
HIPAA, False Claims Act, Fair Debt Collections Act, and Stark
• Understanding of the life cycle of a medical billing claim and how to improve the revenue cycle
• Integrated adult basic education (reading, writing & math) with professional instructors is to provide
basic education and workforce together.
• We will integrate all levels of basic education to the technical programs: Purpose – to help provide postsecondary education and help the students become marketable and enter the healthcare workforce.
• During the ABE course the students will improve their basic reading and writing and math skills using
materials related to the health care industry.
Certified Risk Adjustment Coders (CRCs) play a critical role in establishing
accurate risk scores for patients, which promotes optimal patient care and
ethical payer reimbursement for providers and health plans.
Certified CPMAs This credential is Designed for experience
coders. Expertise will be in Auditing, fraud,
abuse, and medical documentation based on governmental guidelines.

Life Changing Institute Digital Literacy defines basic skills needed to perform tasks on computers and online. Online, self-guided modules assess the ability of individuals to perform tasks based on these skills. Included are basic computer
digital literacy standards and modules in three main areas:

Adult Basic Education is a program of study designed to assist learners to advance their basic skill levels in reading, math, and language. ABE successfully
delivers basic skills training for adults who want to acquire or improve their math, reading, grammar or writing skills; or for those who want to prepare for
getting a job, a promotion, or entering post-secondary education. Through academic achievement in ABE, students prepare themselves for secondary
programs and their career path. The curriculum frameworks for integrated reading and writing, mathematics, and learning support are the result of that
collaboration to achieve TABE success. Instructors utilize a variety of instructional materials to meet the ABE students’ needs.
